Dear Yak,
Last year my friend started a beauty blog that, to be perfectly honest, is pretty underwhelming. It’s ugly and has bad spelling. And her make-up skills are below average anyway (her winged eyeliner is crap and her highlight is never on fleek!). But somehow she’s still managed to get hundreds of thousands of followers. Wtf?
Not only this, but the “fame” seems to have gone to her head. She now struts around like a pretentious twat, posting her stupid duckface selfies and expecting freebies wherever she goes. It’s like she’s turned into someone else. What can I do to gently remind her of the person she used to be?
Yours sincerely,
Brimming With Concern
Dear Seething With Jealousy,
You’ve got it all wrong. Fame doesn’t change people – it just amplifies what’s already there. If your friend has become a pretentious twat, then she must have been a pretentious twat all along. Or at least had the potential for twatdom.
This principle always holds true. Take me, for example. All my life I’ve been a humble and compassionate yak. Now that I own the internet and basically wipe my arse with other people’s problems, I’m even more humble and compassionate.
Hope this helps.
With kind regards,
The Yak
