Dear Yak,
I’m buying my wife a new phone for Christmas. She’s always been an Android girl, but I believe it’s time she was converted to the eternal truth and light of Apple.
But our kids are the problem. One of them is passionately Android, while the other, like me, bats for the Apple team. This gift has the potential to split our family down the middle. What should I do? Apple or Android? This is serious.
Yours sincerely,
Phamily Pheud
Dear Phamily Pheud,
It’s the number one question of our times. Apple certainly has some pros like greater availability of apps, better at updating their services and fewer worries of malware. But it also has a walled-garden ecosystem, limited customisation and no expandable storage.
Meanwhile, Android does have expandable storage and is easily customised. But there’s a higher chance of malware and the interface isn’t the same on all phones. Plus support that can only be described as “patchy”.
But to be honest I find them both equally frustrating. As soon as I tap the screen, my hoof just smashes the phone to pieces. It happens every damn time!
With kind regards,
The Yak
